Opened in October 2017, Kebony was used for more than 100,000 square feet of decking at the Wharf, as well as cladding on certain store fronts and rooftop decks. reSAWN TIMBER co. visited the Wharf 6 months after installation to see how the decking weathered.

Longport Residence Two Years Later :: How Shou Sugi Ban Weathers
reSAWN TIMBER co. recently returned to their Longport, NJ residence project to get a more complete understanding of how their SURETO shou sugi ban exterior siding and HAWAITO shou sugi ban exterior siding weathers in a real-world application. This material was specified by Philadelphia Design Co., known for high-end residential design. Materials were specified with a 5″ wide face and shiplap milling with a 1/8″ reveal. Installation is being done by Seashore Exteriors, a 4th generation company specializing in residential and commercial exteriors in the south NJ area.

Earlier this November, reSAWN TIMBER co. was one of 325 exhibitors to present a wide variety of products to the hospitality industry at Boutique Design New York (BDNY). The two day event brought over 5,000 hospitality designers, architects, and purchasers to the Jacob Javits Center in NYC in search of sustainable and cutting edge materials. reSAWN featured shou sugi ban charred wood, interior and exterior cladding, newly harvested and reclaimed flooring, and custom furniture pieces.
Sweden's Treehotel Adds 7th Room with Shou Sugi Ban Exterior
Located in Harads, Sweden, The Treehotel is made up of seven treehouse rooms that are each designed based on different sources of inspiration with the main focus on reconnecting with nature. The contemporary designs by leading Scandinavian architects are simple, luxurious, and ideal spaces for vacations of mindfulness and views of the Lule River. The 7th and latest room design is 32 feet off the ground and completely covered in shou sugi ban charred cedar.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Located in the coastal town of Bellport, the residence has a heavily wooded landscape and cul-de-sac neighborhood. The ocean is never too far away, though, with a stiff, salty sea breeze. ABOUT THE PROJECT
Located a brief ferry ride away from North Haven, NY, Shelter Island is a secluded coastal town with houses overlooking the water and ample places to watch the sunset. Upon arriving at the residence, an ivy archway with a rustic wooden door begins the path to the pool house that features reSAWN TIMBER co.’s MONOGATARI shou sugi ban charred cypress exterior siding.

Launched in 2003, NeoCon East has positioned itself as the premier design expo and conference for interiors on the east coast.
