ABOUT THE PROJECT

A Key West residence used reSAWN's NEWPORT

Located at the very end of the Overseas Highway in northern Key West, this bayside private residence included reSAWN’s NEWPORT black walnut flooring and stair treads. A cement driveway surround and raised first floor give the exterior a classic beach house aesthetic. The interior is designed around an open floor plan with living room, dining room, and kitchen in one area. With NEWPORT black walnut flooring on both the main floor and top floor, the homeowners included custom designed black walnut stair treads to connect the two floors.

The home is set up to take advantage of the favorable Florida weather. On the main floor, large sliding doors merge interior with exterior through an expansive porch with a lounge area and a reclaimed wood table. Additionally, the first level has a dock on the bay, a small pool, and a covered play area. Noteworthy for its simple aesthetic of white walls and wood accents, the hallway and guest room allow for ample light to spill onto the NEWPORT black walnut flooring. The master bedroom has a simple aesthetic similar to that of the entire house–white walls and black walnut–but its greatest feature is a small, private balcony that overlooks the yard and other bay front homes.
